Absolut vodka: bottle explosion in the freezer

Hi, I am writing you here after a bottle of absolut vodka exploded in my freezer. The bottle was not full (between 1/4 and 1/2). The freezer temperature is pretty cold (between -10 and -25 degrees Celcius) and on the sides of the broken bottle we can see around 1cm of frozen vodka.
I have other bottles in the freezer (Russian standard vodka, 1/4 full, and rakya, 4/5 full) which remained perfect and the alcohol inside is liquid.

What could be the reasons behind this ? A lower glass quality? A lower vodka quality in this bottle? (bought in Milan, Italy).
I think this is pretty dangerous !! (I cut myself on two fingers because at first sight I had not seen it).

Thank you.

  • Hi
I had a bottle of Ruby Red in the freezer, when I took it out and set it on the granite counter, the whole bottom split off! Almost like a saw, it spilled everywhere. Since it was a $30+ bottle, I hope you'll replace it. Bought in NE Atlanta, GA. USA.
