My absolut vodka tastes like water.

I opened a brand new bottle of absolut vodka and it tasted as if it was mixed with water. I am very confused and upset.

  • Our problems seem similar, but I didn't freeze mine. I opened the seal from the store shelf and it tasted like it was diluted with water. I don't expect Absolut to do anything about this, since this is only a comment on a forum.

  • Thank you for replying. I live in Asheboro North Carolina and I'll have to get the address of the ABC store where I buy my Absolute. I did mention to them my problem. I was told the sample bottle that was flavored could freeze due to the additives but the reg Absolute shouldn't of froze. When this happen I had the ice tray making all new ice cubes and it was in this tray. It wasn't solid but had several ice chunks in it. I ran it over water and it immediately turned back to liquid. I've never had this issue till a few months ago and it's been from the same lot and place.

  • Hello, I buy my absolute from the ABC store in Asheboro NC. They are at 700 S Fayetteville St 27203. I haven't bought any absolute I bought pinnacle? N I don't like it I've always drank absolute vodka regular 40% 80 proof. Thanks... I'd like to continue with absolute just I've never seen vodka freeze unless it had an additive in it or someone watered it down but I live alone. So I know it was not watered down by anyone

  • Hi John,

All 80 proof vodka freezes at a temperature of -24 degrees Celsius (-11,2 degrees Fahrenheit). Sometimes the freezer is a little bit colder than this or the bottle is placed close to a freezer element and it may actually freeze. It is still the same quality when it has melted, just shake the bottle gently!

We don't recommend that you drink the vodka very ice-cold. The perfect serving temperature is aprox 5-8 C. You can of course put the vodka in the freezer, but the colder vodka you have the more flavour and smell is lost.

If you still feel unsure about the quality of your bottle of Absolut, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

    Kind regards,

    Jake D

  • Had the same issue.
Bought a 1750 ml vodka while I was on vacation in the summer. Haven't seen 1750ml Absolut in my country so I had to buy it. Just opened it on Monday. It tasted horrible.

Bought in Auchan, TG Mures, Romania.

  • I came on here to report what I thought was a odd occurance. Vodka tasting like tap water. However, I am now surprised to see this not actually a uncommon issue? Is this a bit of practical joke for people who fill the bottles? Mislabelled product and frankly ripping off consumers, totally unacceptable.

    Bought in Waitrose, Henley-On-Thames, England.

  • Bottle of Absolut froze solid in freezer. Took 3 hours to thaw out. Had some small things of some type present after it finally became liquid again.

I HAVE NEVER HAD VODKA FREEZE BEFORE!

I took some pictures but could not post them to this comment section.

No way was this real vodka. Never will buy Absolut again!

    Buyer beware of this product.

  • Hi All,

I do apologise for all the inconvenience you have experienced.

There is a possibility that the vodka will freeze when the freezer is a little bit colder than usual. All 80 proof vodka freezes at a temperature of -24 degrees Celsius. The vodka will however remain the same quality once it has melted - it helps to shake the bottle gently.

I wouldn't recommend to drink the vodka very cold. The perfect serving temperature is aprox 5-8 C. You can of course put the vodka in the freezer, but the colder vodka you have the more flavour and smell is lost.

I hope the above information is useful.

    Kind regards,
    Jake D

  • Same problems as everyone else. Have placed different vodkas in the freezer, the only one that froze is absoult. No it isn't because of the temperature otherwise the other brands would have froze. It is a problem with a watered down product. Lesson learned won't be buying absolut again. Buyer beware.
